Paper Towel Roll Crafts
Today, Arya made a ladybug and a bee out of a paper towel roll. We got the instruction from a website but we modified it based on the materials that we have. We were able to make the ladybug and the bee from one paper towel. We even have an extra piece which Arya reserved to make into a caterpillar. The materials of this paper craft are as follows:
For the ladybug:
1. black construction paper for the body, spots and antenna
2. red construction paper for the wings.
3. a pair of googly eyes (Arya has a lot of them.)
4. glue
5. pair of scissors
For the bee:
1. yellow construction paper for the body
2. black construction paper for the stripes and antenna
3. light blue construction paper for the wings
4. a pair of googly eyes
5. pair of scissors
6. green marker
7. glue
The Ladybug and the Bee
To make the ladybug:
1. Cover the paper towel roll with the black construction paper for the body of
the ladybug. Cut the excess paper.
2. Put enough glue on each side of the paper. Glue it on the paper towel roll.
3. Glue the googly eyes. Glue the antenna on top of it.
4. Make a big circle out of the red construction paper. Fold it half and cut.
This will give you a symmetrical pair of wings for the ladybug.
I used as a template a big roll of double sided tape.
5. Cut 6 spots for the ladybug’s wings. Glue 3 spots on each wing.
I used a button as a template for the spots.
6. Glue one end of each wing directly below the eyes.
For the bee:
1. Cover the paper towel roll with the yellow construction paper for the body
of the bee. Cut the excess paper.
2. Put enough glue on each side of the paper. Glue it on the paper towel roll.
3. Glue the googly eyes. Glue the antenna on top of it.
4. Using a marker, draw the mouth of the bee.
5. Cut 2 strips of black construction paper about 1.5 cm wide. Glue the strips
starting from the bottom of the paper towel roll. Space them evenly to make
it look nice.
6. Finally, using a light blue construction paper, cut a teardrop shape for the
wings. Glue each wing at the back of the bee’s body.
I hope you will have fun making them!
